Government puts a radical spin on reality | Bangkok Post: opinion

Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd has declared a rather dubious success in the military regime's latest attempt to register low-income earners for targeted assistance. According to news reports, the military regime has come up with a "radical" poverty reduction programme -- the national e-payment scheme. The regime deserves kudos in coming up with tighter criteria for those who can register as low-income earners. For example, the discounted train service will be available only to card-carrying registered low-income earners, not any passenger as has been the case. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha himself said during his Friday broadcast last week that low-income earners must adjust themselves and be more proactive in grabbing opportunities to make their lives better.
